We love trees!

For a business that relies on trees for its products, we take serious steps to ensure that we don’t simply take what we need from the earth’s resources, but help to sustain our forests and woodlands, too. Which is why were gearing up for what’s set to be the biggest mass tree-planting campaign in the UK’s history…

The scents and aromas industry is booming – and don’t we know it! As we proudly announced during a recent TV appearance, we’ve now supplied over 58,00,00 Tester Blotters to customers all over the world. Needless to say, that’s a lot of board! So when we saw an opportunity to further reduce our environmental footprint, we were quick to sign up.

The Big Climate Fightback

This national day of action will mark the start of the Big Climate Fightback run by the Woodland Trust. The idea is “to get one million people to join the fight against climate change by pledging to plant a tree by Saturday 30 November 2019.” Count us in! (and keep an eye on our Instagram account for photographic evidence!)

We’re always looking at ways of reducing our impact on the environment. Right now, we manage to this in several ways:

  • The absorbent boards we use for making Tester Blotters are FSC accredited boards, which means that they are made from 100% Chlorine Free wood pulps, from well-managed, sustainable forests that are certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council.
  • We give our customers the option of using recycled absorbent boards for their Tester Blotters – and we’re pleased that more and more of our customers are taking us up on the offer!
  • Whether they’re made from recycled materials or not, all our tester blotters can be recycled after being used – even our printed Tester Blotters, which are produced using low odour vegetable-based inks, with the ink coverage being kept to a minimum (quite often a logo). As well as creating plenty of space to test the scent, this is better for de-inking (as there is less ink) during the process of creating recycled boards.

Looking forward to adding ‘planting trees’ to that list! Hope to see other businesses and individuals in our home city of York joining in, too!
